Robin Hood

Träume hat man nicht, träume lebt man: Turteltauben, die sich auf den Pfad von Robin Hood und Maid Marion begeben wollen, haben bald im Sherwood Forest die Möglichkeit, den weissen Schleier überzulegen (oder Pfeil und Bogen).

Nottinghamshire, die Heimat des legendären Outlaw, hatte einen Antrag gestellt, der nun genehmigt ist und erlaubt, dort zivile Zeremonien zu vollziehen.

Das erste Mal, daß Robin Hood und Maid Marion, im wahren Leben Mike Harrison und Sarah Bairstow, aus Süd Normanton, Derbyshire, Ihre Liebe vor Gott bekennen, geschieht am 12. Mai 2012. Es wird die erste, offizielle, Hochzeit im Sherwood Forest überhaupt sein.

Ms Bairstow 34, eine Erzieherin sagt: “Ever since I was a child it has been my dream to get married at Sherwood Forest but I never imagined it could actually be arranged. It really will be a fairytale for us as we love the Robin Hood story and the fantastic Sherwood Forest setting.”

Mr Harrison, 41, ein Lagerleiter, dazu: “I have joked to some friends that they will need to dress up in Robin Hood costumes but in all seriousness it will be traditional wedding outfits for us all. We are looking forward to what will be a magical day.”

Andrew Cox, der Manager des hiesigen County Councils: “We are pleased to now be able to host weddings at Sherwood Forest, as many couples wish to get married in the legendary home of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. The registrars are looking forward to it too and it’s great to be able to offer the service to the local community and people living much further afield.”
